Second Base

After months of courtship Soren finally got to second base with his special lady friend, Maya. Although there's been some stiff competition from Baby Reese in our mom's group, clearly Maya has Soren's heart. Here are a few pics of our little ladies' man:

Soren cops a feel while pretending not to notice his little wandering hands

Maya, upset from the groping experience, is comforted by a light caress

Maya shows her forgiveness by exposing herself and allowing her thigh to be gently massaged

They end the evening with some gentle hand-holding

Hitting the books

Soren has recently begun to show a real interest in playing with toys and looking at books. He always gets really excited when we put him in his baby gym to play, but he's now beginning to show that same excitement when he looks at his favorite book (Bugs at Play). It has lots of bright colors and black and white contrast and you can watch his little eyes scan each page and he starts kicking and coos every time the page is turned (at least for the first one or two times through the book). We were so excited that Gram and Bumpy were able to see how excited he gets with this book and not think we were crazy parents making the whole thing up.

Brown Bear is a much more subdued reading experience than Bugs at Play

Reading with Bumpy. Unfortunately this was his 6th or so time through the book and he was less excited.

New Mexico Welcomes Soren

This past weekend Soren went for his first plane ride to visit family in New Mexico. Although he barely slept on the flight out, he did great and was very quiet the entire flight.

Not sure what to expect on his first plane ride

After a good night's rest on Friday, we headed over to Granny and Grumps' for a nice reception to welcome Soren and celebrate a few birthdays/anniversaries happening the same week. It was a beautiful day and a lot of fun to meet so many of Soren's relatives all in one go. It was so nice of Matt's family to host the party and we know Soren had a great time.

With (Great) Granny and Grumps

On Monday it was up to Los Alamos to meet up with Matt's Dad and Kathy and to visit his grandparents and aunts and uncles. Soren loved meeting his great-grandparents and having attention showered upon him by so many aunts and uncles.

Lounging in the backyard

All in all it was a pretty great trip and much less stressful than Mom and Dad had anticipated.

A Visit from Nana

At the end of May, Soren's Nana came to stay with us for a week. Soren had a great time and it was nice to have some company around the house! Here's a few of our favorite shots from her visit:

Nana can relate to Soren's pain

Happy again!

When it finally came time to leave, Soren was very sad to see her go!

Rocking Tummy Time

Soren rolled over for the first time right around two months then took a hiatus for a week or two. When he's in the mood, he now rolls over pretty consistently. Here's a quick video of his latest achievement taken around 2.5 months:
